Police Arrest Two Suspected Robbery Plotters Near Asankragua

The Western Central Regional Police Command has apprehended two individuals suspected of planning a robbery near Asankragua.

The suspects, identified as 28-year-old Mohammed Abdul-Salam and 42-year-old Karim Yakubu, were reportedly discovered hiding in a bush along a section of the road.

According to a police statement, the duo attempted to escape upon spotting a police patrol team. A chase ensued, leading to an abandoned mining site, where the suspects leapt into a muddy pit in an effort to avoid arrest. However, the patrol officers managed to rescue and arrest them.

A search at the scene resulted in the seizure of a shotgun, three AAA cartridges, and a Nokia keypad mobile phone.

The two suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.
