NDC Youth Lock NSS Office Over Regional Coordinator Appointment

- NDC-aligned youth lock up Western Regional NSS office in protest
- Group opposes appointment of Daniel Dawusu as Regional Coordinator
- Protesters demand a local candidate for the position
A youth group aligned with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has forcibly locked the Western Regional office of the National Service Secretariat in protest of a recent appointment.
Their action follows the transfer of Daniel Dawusu as the new Regional Coordinator—a move they claim does not reflect the interests of the Western Region. The group insists the position should be filled by someone native to the region, arguing that appointing an outsider compromises local representation.
Speaking to the press on Wednesday, April 16, NDC Constituency Youth Organiser Kwabena Afriyie defended the group’s actions, stating they will keep the office closed until their demands are met.
“We’ll continue to lock the office until our concerns are addressed,” he said, calling on authorities to withdraw the appointment and instead approve their recommended candidate. “He’s equally qualified, and appointing him will ensure peace in the region,” he added.
