Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has signed a two-year contract extension with Liverpool, securing his future with the club amid speculation about a potential move away.
The 32-year-old’s previous deal was set to expire this summer, sparking doubts over his commitment following remarks made during the season and rumors linking him to a transfer to Saudi Arabia. With this new agreement, Salah is poised to continue building on his impressive record of 243 goals and 109 assists across 394 appearances for the Reds.
“Of course I’m very excited – we have a great team now,” Salah shared after signing the extension. “Before we also had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.
“I have played eight years here, hopefully it’s going to be 10. I’m enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I have had the best years of my career here,” he added.
Salah has netted 32 goals in all competitions this season, including 27 in the Premier League, as Liverpool edges closer to clinching their 20th top-flight title. With seven matches left, the Reds hold an 11-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.
Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Salah has been integral to the team’s success, winning major trophies like the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
Salah is one of three key Liverpool players whose contracts were set to expire this summer, alongside right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and center-back Virgil van Dijk. While Van Dijk has indicated progress in negotiations, Alexander-Arnold remains linked to a potential move to Real Madrid.
Salah’s prior contract reportedly made him the club’s highest-paid player, earning more than £350,000 per week. It is understood that talks over the new deal did not involve any reduction in salary.
