Five Killed, 12 Injured in Kadjebi District Accident

Five people were killed in a fatal accident on the Dodo-Pepesu section of the Eastern Corridor Road in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region on Wednesday, April 9.

The collision involved a VIP bus with registration number GT 6598-10 traveling from Nkwanta, and a Benz Sprinter bus with registration number GT 6151-U coming from the Kadjebi direction.

An eyewitness, speaking anonymously to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the VIP bus veered off its lane to avoid a pothole and crashed head-on into the oncoming Sprinter bus.

According to the witness, four passengers in the Sprinter bus died instantly, while one passenger in the VIP bus also lost their life.

Mr. Kingsford Seyram Adzimah, Assemblyman for the Dodo-Pepesu/Dodo-Tamale Electoral Area, acknowledged hearing about the incident but stated he had no further information, as he was not at the scene.

The Kadjebi District Police Commander, Superintendent Frank Nana Asomaning, confirmed the accident to the GNA. He said the bodies have been taken to the St. Mary Theresa Catholic Hospital in Dodi-Papase, where approximately 12 injured passengers are also receiving treatment.
