The Ashanti Regional Police Command has apprehended a 29-year-old Cameroonian national, Bella Merie, for allegedly orchestrating an internet fraud operation and engaging in human trafficking.
Bella is accused of defrauding 43 individuals—comprising 32 males and 11 females—through a widespread online scam identified as Q-NET. Preliminary investigations conducted by the police revealed that she deceived the victims into parting with a total sum of 4.5 million CFA Francs under the pretense of securing them employment opportunities.
The suspect was arrested alongside the victims, who are also believed to be Cameroonians aged between 22 and 30 years. The arrests occurred at a residence in Kenyasi Abrem, located in the Ashanti Region, on Monday, 7th April 2025.
In a statement, the Police reaffirmed their dedication to combating fraudulent activities and ensuring the safety and well-being of both citizens and foreign nationals within Ghana.
“We remain committed to rooting out fraudulent schemes and safeguarding everyone residing within the country,” the statement emphasized.
The arrested suspects have been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service to undergo necessary immigration processes, which include repatriation to their home country.
