Suspect Arrested in Pwalugu Robbery and Murder Case

The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery and murder that took place in Pwalugu, Upper East Region.

Savannah Regional Police Commander, COP Samuel Alfred Winful, confirmed that the suspect, Nuhu Mumuni, was apprehended on April 8, 2025, at his hideout in Mankarigu, within the Savannah Region. He was captured by the Regional Operations team.

Nuhu Mumuni had been on the Upper East Regional Police’s wanted list prior to his arrest. His capture marks a significant development in the investigation into the robbery and murder that shocked the Pwalugu community.

According to police reports, Mumuni, along with accomplices, was involved in the fatal shooting of Benjamin Apuri, a mobile money vendor, on March 3, 2025. The attackers also stole an undisclosed sum of money during the robbery.

This arrest is part of the police’s ongoing efforts to bring those responsible for violent crimes to justice. Authorities believe Mumuni’s capture will help identify and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the incident.

Mumuni is currently in the custody of the Savannah Regional Police Command and is expected to be transferred to the Upper East Regional Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
