The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has reported a collection of approximately GH₵41 billion in taxes during the first quarter of the year, surpassing its target of GH₵39 billion. Acting Commissioner-General, Anthony Sarpong, praised the performance across various regions, noting that some regions exceeded expectations. “The overall tax performance for the country has been impressive, with the Ashanti Region surpassing their target,” Sarpong said.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining this momentum to achieve the national target by the end of the year. “As I’ve mentioned, this is just the beginning, and I expect the same level of commitment in the remaining quarters to meet the national target,” he added.
Sarpong highlighted the significance of the achievement, stating, “While the budget set a target of GH₵39 billion, I am pleased to announce that we collected GH₵41 billion in the first quarter.”
