Resumption of Construction on Tema-Aflao Highway After 15-Month Break

- Construction resumes on the Tema-Aflao highway after a 15-month break
- Project halted in December 2022 due to funding issues
- Client Relations Manager urges the government to restore the $105 million loan for completion
Construction on parts of the Tema-Aflao highway has resumed after a 15-month hiatus, following an appeal from the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, for contractors to return to the site.
BHM International Construction, the contractor handling the 17-kilometre section, resumed work on Monday, April 7, 2025. The project, which spans from the Tema Roundabout to the Central University campus at Miotso, had been on hold since December 2022 due to funding issues.
Wisdom Adonu, the company’s Client Relations Manager, urged the government to reinstate the $105 million loan needed to complete the project within the updated 18-month schedule.
The ongoing work starts one kilometre east of the Tema Expressway Roundabout, passing through areas like Dawhenya, and ends about three kilometres east of the Central University intersection.
