Sam Pee Yalley, the former Ghanaian High Commissioner to India and a distinguished member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has passed away.
He died on Sunday at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, leaving the political and diplomatic communities in mourning.
While the exact cause of his death has not yet been confirmed, the news has sparked an outpouring of tributes from various political figures. Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, was among the first to offer condolences, referring to Yalley as a “brother and friend.”
In a moving social media post, Bagbin praised Yalley’s significant contributions to the NDC, especially his leadership as President of the NDC Professionals Forum. He described him as “a champion of professionalism in politics and a key figure in our party’s development.”
Yalley’s career spanned both law and diplomacy. He was a seasoned lawyer and also served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority. In 2014, President John Mahama appointed him as Ghana’s Ambassador to India.
During his tenure, Yalley was recognized for his dedication to strengthening Ghana’s international relations and promoting the country’s interests abroad.
Beyond his diplomatic work, Sam Pee Yalley was highly regarded for his advocacy, particularly in encouraging female leadership in Ghana. His unwavering commitment to social causes and political professionalism earned him widespread respect across political lines.
