Ghana’s Inflation Rate Drops to 22.4% in March 2025

Ghana’s inflation rate continued its decline in March 2025, dropping to 22.4% from 23.1% in February.

Latest data reveals a significant decrease in food inflation, which fell to 26.5% in March from 28.1% in February, indicating improved supply conditions and relative price stability for key commodities.

Non-food inflation also saw a slight reduction, easing from 18.8% to 18.7%, signaling a broader trend of slowing price growth.

However, the inflation trend varied across different sectors. Inflation for locally produced goods decreased to 24.0% from 25.1%, while the rate for imported goods rose slightly to 18.7% from 18.5% in February. This increase raises concerns about the impact of exchange rate pressures and global commodity price fluctuations on Ghana’s import-reliant economy.

Regionally, inflation rates varied. The Upper West Region had the highest inflation rate at 36.2%, driven by localized economic pressures, while the Volta Region recorded the lowest rate at 18.9%, indicating relatively stable price conditions in that area.
