The Impact of the 2023 Accident on Edem’s Career and Personal Life

- Edem's shows were canceled, causing financial loss and a break in his career
- The legal process lasted from December 2023 to February 2024
- Edem credited his team for handling the legal and police work
Ghanaian musician Edem recently opened up about a difficult period in his life, revealing the details of a life-altering motor accident he experienced in 2023.
In an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, Edem shared that the incident had a profound financial impact on him.
The accident severely affected his career, as many promoters canceled his shows due to the uncertainty surrounding the situation. “This happened on December 10th, 2023, and every promoter canceled our shows. The team would get calls saying, ‘We’re not pushing the date.’ They didn’t know what was going on,” Edem explained.
He also mentioned that the incident caused him to retreat from the public eye for a while. “What the world didn’t know is that from December 10th, 2023, we were in court until February of this year. We were dealing with the legal aspects of the accident. It wasn’t until February that the court cleared us, so it was a year and a half process,” he said.
Edem praised his team for handling the situation effectively. “I think my team did a really great job managing everything. We made sure to do everything right—going to the accident site, assisting the police with investigations, and providing all the necessary evidence over the course of two years,” he noted.
He expressed gratitude for the outcome, saying, “The high office cleared us based on the evidence and police reports, so we thank God.”
Reflecting on the emotional and financial burden, Edem revealed how much the accident affected him. “Sometimes you’re going through so much, and people don’t know. You’re covering funeral expenses, dealing with family matters, and someone lost their life. Even though the person had mental health issues, it’s still a human being,” he shared.
On December 10, 2023, Edem was reported to have accidentally knocked down a middle-aged woman on the George Walker Bush Highway around 2 a.m. after returning from a program at UTV.
