King Paluta Admits Taking Money from Bawumia After Backlash

Rapper King Paluta has acknowledged taking money from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer for the 2024 December elections.

This admission comes after he faced backlash over recent comments on Twitter, where he suggested that influencers are being paid to promote certain artists. In his post, Paluta expressed disappointment that a fan who had previously supported his bid for Artiste of the Year (AOTY) had suddenly changed their stance.

He implied that some Twitter influencers were financially influenced to promote certain artists over others, stating, “I’ve seen one guy who was supporting me heavily. Even last week… Every time Paluta for AOTY. Yesterday, I make I go see aa, he say I no dey deserve the award again. Every Twitter influencer on the payroll already?? Lol Ghana Music, wake up! (in Wendy Shay’s voice).”

However, netizens quickly called him out, accusing him of doing the same during the 2024 elections. One user responded, “You took big money from politicians during the election era, and now you’re complaining about influencers taking money to support others? You should understand that this is how it works. You pay, you get served. Simple.”

In his response, King Paluta confirmed accepting money from Bawumia, saying, “The money I took from Baweezy deɛ, e really pain boys.”

This admission has reignited speculation that Paluta was paid to support Bawumia’s NPP campaign, especially since he was seen attending rallies with the flagbearer and party executives. While he hasn’t disclosed the amount, his confirmation has sparked debates on musicians’ involvement in political endorsements.
