Three people have died in an accident on the Techiman-Wenchi highway in the Bono Region. The incident took place on Thursday morning at Nkonsia, a farming community within the Wenchi Municipality.
A KIA Rhino truck, with registration number AS 7102-13 and loaded with cashew nuts, collided with a Daewoo Matiz taxi, registration number GN 356-19, which was traveling from Wenchi to Techiman.
Two men in the taxi died at the scene, while a female passenger was later pronounced dead at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital.
Divisional Officer 2 (DOII) Eric Boateng, the Wenchi Municipal Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), informed Adom News correspondent Nana Anfreh Damanata that the KIA Rhino’s brakes failed, causing it to swerve into the opposite lane and crash into the taxi.
DOII Boateng further stated that the mate of the KIA Rhino sustained a minor injury to the forehead and is currently being treated at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital.
The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital morgue for autopsy.
