- Egypt steps in after Cote d'Ivoire's withdrawal
- Opening match on April 27, 2025, with the final on May 18, 2025
- Black Satellites compete for the first time since their 2021 win
Egypt has stepped in as the emergency host for this year’s CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, following the withdrawal of the original host, Cote d’Ivoire, just four weeks before the competition was set to begin.
Both the Egyptian Football Association and the Egyptian Government had previously submitted bids to host the tournament.
As a result, the opening match has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 27, 2025, with the final set to take place on May 18, 2025.
Ghana’s Black Satellites will compete in the 13-team tournament for the first time since 2021, when they won the competition in Mauritania.
Desmond Ofei’s team is in a group alongside Cote d’Ivoire, Tanzania, and DR Congo, and will also face another team from UNIFFAC 2.
