President John Dramani Mahama has nominated 72 District Chief Executives (DCEs) as part of his first batch of appointments for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District leaders.

In a press release, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, confirmed the nominations.

This follows the provisions of Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 (1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended.

The list of nominees includes 18 from the Volta Region, nine from the Oti Region, six from the Ahafo Region, 10 from the Bono Region, nine from the Bono East Region, five from the Savannah Region, six from the North East Region, and nine from the Western North Region.

The nominations are subject to approval by the respective Assemblies.
