Four people have died and several others have been injured following a collision between a commercial KIA truck and a Toyota RAV4.
The incident occurred on Wednesday near the Fire Academy and Training School (FATS) along the Sunyani-Kumasi highway.
According to a statement from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Toyota RAV4, with the registration number AS 4365-20, was carrying three passengers, while the KIA truck, with the registration number GT 5335-19, had four passengers aboard.
The crash resulted in four individuals becoming trapped in both vehicles. “When the rescue team arrived at 0553 hours, they found seven victims, with four of them trapped—three in the RAV4 and one in the KIA truck,” the GNFS stated.
Personnel from the Bechem Fire Command and the Duayaw-Nkwanta Fire Station responded to the scene. Four lifeless bodies were retrieved from the wreckage, and three others were found to have sustained various injuries. The injured victims were immediately taken to Saint John’s of God Hospital and Bechem Government Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
