Andre Ayew Dropped in Black Stars Call-Up Hierarchy, Says Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has stated that Andre Ayew is currently lower in the pecking order for national team call-ups.

The 35-year-old has not received an invitation since Addo returned in March 2024. This season, Andre has scored four goals in 11 starts for Le Havre in the French Ligue 1.

“If we need Andre Ayew, we will call him. Right now, I see other players ahead of him,” Addo shared in an exclusive interview with JoySports.

During Andre’s absence, his brother, Jordan, has been appointed as the permanent captain of the Black Stars. Under Jordan’s leadership, Ghana secured victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

These back-to-back wins have placed Ghana at the top of Group I with 15 points, with four matches remaining.
