The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has announced that 40 of the missing Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers have been located at a warehouse owned by an Indian national in Kpone, near Tema.

In an interview with TV3 on Wednesday, March 26, Jinapor praised the efforts of national security and law enforcement agencies in tracking down the missing containers.

“The key issue here is locating these containers. According to the briefing I received this morning, around 40 have been traced to a warehouse in Kpone, owned by an Indian national. All 40 containers have been seized and moved to a secure location,” Mr. Jinapor stated.

The Minister explained that the warehouse owner claimed to have purchased the containers last year. However, he emphasized that the matter is under investigation, and law enforcement will ensure that justice is served.

“This is now under investigation, and the authorities will ensure that the law is followed,” he added.

Mr. Jinapor also revealed that intelligence reports suggest more missing containers may be in other locations. He reassured the public that security agencies are actively pursuing all leads to recover the remaining containers and hold those responsible accountable.

“They have identified other locations and are following up to retrieve all the containers and ensure the perpetrators are prosecuted in the proper courts,” he confirmed.
