The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has issued an apology to passengers who were disrupted by a power outage at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The incident occurred on Tuesday at around 5 p.m. and was confirmed in an official statement.

“Management deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers during the brief power interruption,” the company said.

GACL clarified that the power failure was due to an electrical fault in the backup power system following a power outage.

“On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at approximately 17:48, Kotoka International Airport experienced a power outage caused by heavy rainfall,” the statement explained.

“While the backup power system activated as intended, an electrical issue prevented it from supplying power to the terminal.”

The company confirmed that power was fully restored by 18:19.

Additionally, GACL reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring smooth and efficient passenger services at the airport.
