GFA Fines and Suspends Elmina Sharks President for Misconduct

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has imposed a fine and suspension on Elmina Sharks Football Club President, Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum, for misconduct during an Access Bank Division One League match.

Dr. Ndoum has been fined 10,000 Ghana Cedis (approximately $644.75) and handed a three-month suspension for his actions during Elmina Sharks’ league match against Swedru All Blacks on February 16, 2025.

As a result of the suspension, Dr. Ndoum, who also serves as the financial backer of Elmina Sharks, will be banned from participating in football activities for the specified period.

The GFA’s Disciplinary Committee stated that Dr. Ndoum was found guilty of disrupting the flow of the match, inciting players against match officials, and making inflammatory comments on social media that fueled violence and hatred toward referees.

The game between Elmina Sharks and All Blacks saw multiple stoppages, including one lasting 27 minutes, and several clashes between players and fans. Following the match, Dr. Ndoum criticized the GFA on his Facebook page, calling their actions “clueless” and “ridiculous.” For the full statement from the GFA Disciplinary Committee to Dr. Ndoum, please see below.
