DSTV Price Increase in Ghana

Story Highlights
  • DSTV Ghana will raise subscription prices by 15% starting April 1, 2025
  • CUTS emphasizes the importance of respecting consumers and giving them time to adjust
  • Similar price hikes in Nigeria were rejected by subscribers, reflecting broader concerns

MultiChoice Ghana (DSTV) has revealed that subscription prices will rise starting April 1, 2025, with an average increase of 15 percent across all packages.

DSTV raised prices twice in 2024, which angered many subscribers. CUTS International has expressed concerns about the proposed price hike, urging DSTV to provide adequate notice to consumers about the change in subscription fees and to avoid the short notice it has previously given to Ghanaian subscribers. “Such short notice may not allow subscribers enough time to assess their options or make necessary adjustments. Respect for consumers is crucial in any market, especially when services are prepaid and billed regularly.”

“Providing clear and timely communication regarding price changes is not only fair but also helps build trust and maintain positive customer relationships,” CUTS International stated in a press release.

Similar objections were voiced in Nigeria when MultiChoice announced a similar price increase, leading Nigerians to reject the proposed hike.
