Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has hailed the inauguration of Namibia’s first female president, H.E. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, as a powerful reflection of the strength and perseverance of African women.

In a message posted on her official Facebook page on Saturday, March 22, 2025, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed her pride in witnessing this historic milestone for the continent.

“Her leadership serves as a powerful example of the strength, resilience, and determination of African women,” she stated. “May she continue to inspire people across the continent and demonstrate that with courage and dedication, no dream is unattainable.”

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was in Namibia as part of Ghana’s delegation for the swearing-in ceremony, which occurred on March 21, 2025, coinciding with Namibia’s 35th Independence Day.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah, 72, a long-serving member of Namibia’s ruling SWAPO party, assumes office following years of public service. The event was attended by numerous African leaders, international dignitaries, and representatives from regional institutions.

In her inaugural speech, she highlighted important issues such as governance, regional collaboration, economic diversification, youth unemployment, and climate change.
