President Mahama Urges Ghana Armed Forces Council to Serve with Wisdom and Integrity

President John Dramani Mahama has urged the newly sworn-in members of the Ghana Armed Forces Council to carry out their responsibilities with wisdom, integrity, and a strong dedication to serving the nation.

During the swearing-in ceremony on Monday, March 24, President Mahama highlighted the vital role the council plays in preserving Ghana’s stability, strengthening national security, and ensuring the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) maintains the highest standards of professionalism.

He reminded the council members that their decisions would have significant consequences for the country’s defense strategy and the overall welfare of the military.

In his speech, the President emphasized the council’s duty to safeguard the peace that Ghana has enjoyed for many years and urged them to be proactive in addressing emerging security threats.

The President also noted that, given the changing nature of security challenges, the Armed Forces Council must stay alert and forward-thinking in its approach to national defense.

“The choices you make as a council will shape the future of our Armed Forces, so it is essential that you approach this task with wisdom, integrity, and a strong sense of national service,” he stated.

“In today’s world, security threats are rapidly changing, from terrorism and cybercrime to political instability and climate-related challenges.”
