- They discussed finalizing a bilateral agreement for key projects
- Collaboration in tax administration, particularly VAT, was also explored
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has reiterated Ghana’s dedication to strengthening economic ties with the United Kingdom after a high-level discussion with UK Trade Envoy to Ghana, Bell Ribeiro-Addy, and Akosua Dentaa Amoateng MBE. During the meeting, he emphasized the urgent need to finalize the bilateral agreement between the two nations. He pointed out that ongoing debt restructuring had delayed several key projects, and securing this agreement would provide the necessary support to move forward swiftly.

With France already committed to a similar agreement, he expressed hope that the UK would follow suit soon.
In addition to trade and investment, the conversation also touched on opportunities for technical collaboration, particularly in tax administration. The Minister highlighted Ghana’s plans for significant VAT reform and expressed a desire to learn from the UK’s highly efficient VAT system.
