Security Forces Prevent Looting During Fire Outbreak in Kumasi

Security personnel have been stationed at Adum PZ in Kumasi after looters attempted to steal from stores during a fire at a four-story commercial building.

Several individuals have been apprehended as law enforcement works to restore order.

In the midst of the chaos, groups tried to break into shops, taking advantage of the situation.

However, the rapid response from police and military forces stopped further theft, securing the area while firefighters worked to control the blaze.

Their presence has helped stabilize the situation, preventing further business losses beyond the fire damage.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received the fire alert at 6:05 a.m., with the first response team arriving by 6:15 a.m. Additional fire trucks from KNUST, Ejisu, and Twedie were sent to assist in extinguishing the fire. The Regional Fire Commander, along with his Deputy, Operations Officers, and other District Commanders, are on-site managing the firefighting and security efforts.

Authorities have asked the public to avoid the area as investigations proceed.

Officials are expected to evaluate the damage and determine the fire’s cause.
