The National Investigations Bureau (NIB) has questioned Osei Assibey Antwi, the former Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), as part of the ongoing investigation into the ghost names scandal.
Reports say Mr. Assibey appeared before the NIB on Thursday, March 20, with his lawyer, after being invited by the investigative body. He was reportedly questioned for several hours about the scandal, which involves the fraudulent addition of non-existent names to the NSA payroll.
It is unclear whether he was released after the questioning.
The NIB began its probe after an exposé by The Fourth Estate revealed widespread irregularities within the scheme.
As part of the investigation, two former Deputy Directors of the NSA, Gifty Oware Mensah and Kwaku Ohene Djan, were also invited and questioned about their involvement in the alleged fraud.
The ghost names scandal has raised concerns about financial mismanagement in the scheme, leading to calls for better oversight and accountability.
Stakeholders are urging the government to take firm action against those found responsible to restore public trust in the system.
