Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has reassured fans that the team is fully prepared to secure an important victory over Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana, a four-time African champion, will face Chad on Friday, March 20, at the Accra Sports Stadium in their Matchday 5 clash.
Ayew, who will captain the team in the absence of his older brother, Andre Ayew, expressed his confidence following the squad’s second training session in Accra on Tuesday.
“I want to thank everyone for coming out to show their support. My teammates and I assure you that we are ready for the challenge. We’ll give it our all. We know the first task is on Friday, and we’re determined to get the three points,” Ayew said.
Acknowledging the team’s current struggles, Ayew remained hopeful about turning things around.
“We know we’re in a tough spot, but we’ll get through it. Seeing all of you here gives me confidence that we’ll achieve a positive result on Friday,” he added. “On behalf of my teammates, I want to thank you all, and hopefully, we’ll be celebrating a good result on Friday.”
After their match against Chad, the Black Stars will travel to Morocco to face Madagascar on Monday, March 24, in their Matchday 6 fixture.
Currently, Ghana sits second in Group I with nine points as they continue their push for World Cup qualification.
