Mahnny Highlights Growing Drug Problem Among Ghana’s Youth

Story Highlights

  • Mahnny calls for caution in places like Labadi Beach

Ghanaian musician Mahnny has raised concerns about the increasing drug use among young people in Ghana.

In a recent interview on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, he discussed the troubling trend, particularly focusing on the drug issue in places like Atlanta.

“I’m starting to notice signs of drug use, and it’s ruining the youth. When you go to downtown Atlanta, you’ll see how drugs are everywhere. It’s crazy—nice guys, nice girls, all on drugs, and that’s not a good thing,” Mahnny said.

The artist believes someone is behind the growing drug trade targeting young people. “Maybe someone is bringing these drugs into the country for others to sell to our youth, and it’s destroying them,” he explained.

Mahnny also talked about how drugs, especially ecstasy, have changed over the years.

“It used to be white, then it was blue, and now it’s red. It’s still ecstasy. They find people willing to use it, and then they bring in more,” he shared. Mahnny described his encounters with drug dealers at popular spots like Labadi Beach, highlighting the importance of being aware in public places.

“These things happen in nightclubs and places like Labadi Beach. People approach you saying, ‘Yo, I have this, I have GH gold,’” Mahnny said.

He emphasized the need for awareness and action to combat drug use, particularly in public spaces like beaches. “It’s wrong for people to approach foreigners visiting for fun, and it’s disturbing that our beaches seem to be a place for drug sales,” he concluded.

Mahnny’s concerns call for more awareness and action to tackle the growing drug problem among Ghana’s youth.
