Free SHS was used for propaganda – Joseph Kumah

- Kumah criticizes Akufo-Addo government for overstating Free SHS success
- He blames NPP for prioritizing politics over proper planning
- NDC vows to review and restructure Free SHS for better effectiveness
Joseph Kwame Kumah, the Vice Chair of the Education Committee of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Kintampo, has criticized the Akufo-Addo government for overstating the success of the Free Senior High School (SHS) program.
He argued that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) focused more on political benefits than proper planning, which led to difficulties in executing the program effectively.
In discussing the opposition National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) stance on Free SHS, Mr. Kumah explained that the party has thoroughly assessed the program and plans to review it for better efficiency and long-term sustainability.
“The NPP rushed into implementing Free SHS. The NDC had a deal with the World Bank to complete the E-block projects before launching the program, but the NPP used it as a propaganda tool to win elections,” he said.
He promised that, under an NDC government, the program would be restructured to fix its shortcomings and ensure the delivery of quality education for all students.
