Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi and former Minister of Housing, has expressed concerns about the 2025 budget, arguing that it reflects the priorities of the Mahama administration in a way that deserves reassessment.

He pointed out that while the government has set aside 51 million Cedis as initial funding for the proposed Women’s Development Bank, a much larger sum of 71 million Cedis has been allocated for research at the presidency.

During the budget debate in Parliament on Tuesday, March 18, Mr. Nkrumah said, “The budget you’ve presented reveals your priorities. As the saying goes, don’t tell me what your priorities are; show me your budget, and I’ll see what you value.”

While he acknowledged the establishment of the Women’s Development Bank as a positive move for supporting women, he questioned the large funding gap compared to the research allocation at the presidency.

Mr. Nkrumah called for a review of the budget to better address the needs and expectations of Ghanaians.
