Two people were killed in Atuba, a town in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region, in what is suspected to be related to the ongoing Bawku conflict. This tragic incident has raised tensions in the area as concerns over continued violence grow.

The shooting occurred on Monday, March 17, 2025, when unidentified gunmen on motorbikes entered a busy marketplace and opened fire on traders. The victims, a veterinary officer named Mohammed and a local pastor, died on the spot, causing shock within the local community.

While the attackers’ identities remain unknown, many believe the shooting is connected to the long-standing conflict in Bawku and nearby areas. The motive behind the killings has not yet been confirmed, but it adds to the rising number of deaths linked to the conflict.
