Time will tell – Kofi Adams on the GFA’s Choice to Retain Otto Addo

- Kofi Adams questioned the GFA's decision to keep Otto Addo
- Addo’s team secured only two wins in the World Cup Qualifiers
- Adams feels a coaching change isn’t ideal now
The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed concerns over the Ghana Football Association’s decision to retain Otto Addo as the head coach of the Black Stars.
Addo faced criticism after a disappointing performance last year, following the GFA’s decision to reappoint him as coach a year ago. Under his leadership, the team secured just two victories across all competitions, both in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.
While many called for Addo’s dismissal, the GFA chose to maintain him in the role, a decision that Adams found unsatisfactory, despite the association’s explanation.
“I met with the GFA, and they explained their decision to keep Otto. Am I fully satisfied? Time will tell. But I did express my concerns, and I made them known at the meeting,” Adams said in an interview with TV3.
“However, considering the crucial matches ahead, changing the coach now may not be the best course of action.”
Addo will now look to prove himself to the Minister when the Black Stars resume their World Cup qualifying campaign on Friday, March 21.
