The UK-Ghana Trade Partnership Agreement and Its Impact

Story Highlights
  • The UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce held workshops to help businesses
  • Ghana can send goods to the UK without extra charges
  • The goal is to increase trade between the UK and Ghana

The UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC) successfully organized two workshops to help businesses take advantage of the UK-Ghana Trade Partnership Agreement (TPA). Signed in March 2021, the agreement offers duty-free access for most Ghanaian exports to the UK and plans to grant duty-free access to 80% of UK goods to Ghana by 2029.

The workshops, conducted in Ghana and the UK, were supported by the UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT). Officials and experts from both governments guided businesses on customs, compliance, trade policies, and export standards. Key speakers included the UK Trade Envoy to Ghana and experts in trade policy and agriculture.

These workshops played a crucial role in strengthening UK-Ghana trade relations, providing a foundation for further growth and economic cooperation under the TPA, which aims to boost trade and investment between both nations.
