Ghana’s Parliamentary Committee on Chieftaincy, Culture, and Religious Affairs has expressed its full support for religious and traditional leaders in the effort to promote and preserve Ghanaian culture for the country’s growth.
This assurance was made during the committee’s first meeting, where Chairman Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah emphasized the crucial role of culture in Ghana’s development, pointing to examples of other nations that have thrived by valuing their cultural heritage.
Dr. Asamoah highlighted the committee’s key role in the nation’s socio-economic progress, noting the significant influence of culture, religion, and chieftaincy on Ghana’s development since independence.
Ranking member Laadi Ayii Ayamba promised that the committee would engage with traditional and religious leaders, organizations, and citizens to foster Ghana’s rich cultural diversity. The committee’s work is aimed at using Ghana’s cultural heritage to promote sustainable development, recognizing its potential for economic growth, community empowerment, and social unity.
By preserving and sharing its cultural values, Ghana can leverage its diverse cultural resources to drive national development and enhance the well-being of its citizens.
