Veteran singer Mzbel has teamed up with Icetee Records to introduce and sign their new artist, Kweku Shai, through a traditional oath-taking ceremony with schnapps and eggs.
At the event, Mzbel and the label’s executives wore traditional Ga attire as they took an oath to honor the contract. Mzbel explained the importance of the ritual, stressing the need for dedication and loyalty in the music industry, especially given the rising cases of betrayal.
“We will swear to make sure the gods witness that we’ll all keep our promises. The money we put in, we expect the same effort, ideas, and time to grow the brand,” she said. Mzbel had previously voiced her frustration with artists she supported who later turned their backs on her, making the oath-taking an important step for accountability.
After the ceremony, the contract was officially signed, marking the start of Kweku Shai’s collaboration with Icetee Records.
