Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has shared that Andre Ayew remains unaffected by his exclusion from Ghana’s squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Ayew, who has earned over 120 caps and scored 24 goals for the Black Stars, has not played for the team since their disappointing group-stage exit at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

Despite his strong performances for Le Havre in the French Ligue 1, where he has scored five goals this season, the experienced forward has once again been left out.

In response to the omission, Agyemang-Badu stressed the importance of respecting the coach’s decision.

“We all know that player selection for the Black Stars is based on performance. Andre Ayew is performing well, but if the coach [Otto Addo] has made his decision, we need to respect it,” Agyemang-Badu said.

The former Black Stars midfielder further reassured fans that Ayew is not troubled by the situation.

“I’ve spoken to Andre Ayew, and he’s not worried,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars have officially opened camp in Accra and will begin their first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Mohammed Kudus, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Jojo Wollacott, Antoine Semenyo, and Thomas Partey are among the players who have reported to camp.

Ghana will face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before traveling to Morocco to take on Madagascar on Monday, March 24.

Currently, the Black Stars sit second in Group I with nine points, level with leaders Comoros.
