31-year-old man escapes being lynched for stealing a sheep in Bibiani

A 31-year-old man narrowly escaped being lynched in Bibiani, located in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, after allegedly stealing eight sheep.

The suspect, Kwasi Asamoah, a teaching intern at Juaboso D/A Primary School, is accused of stealing the sheep from Oforikrom, a suburb of Bibiani.

Local livestock farmers told Adom News that sheep had been going missing in the area, but their attempts to catch the thief had failed. They eventually reported the theft to butchers at the Bibiani slaughterhouse for help.

The butchers were able to identify four of the missing sheep when the farmers visited the abattoir. After questioning, the butchers revealed that Asamoah had sold the sheep to them and promised to bring more.

The following morning, Asamoah returned with four more sheep, bringing the total to eight. When confronted, the herdsmen identified all the animals as theirs. Asamoah was beaten before being handed over to the Bibiani police, despite claiming that three of the sheep were his and that he was taking them to Kumasi for sale.

One of the butchers, Iddrisu Abdulai, revealed that Asamoah had sold the sheep for GH¢3,000.
