Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has agreed to a new contract extension through 2030, reportedly worth up to a record-breaking $330 million (£255 million), making him one of the highest-paid players in NFL history.

Allen, who was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for the 2024 season, will receive $250 million (£193 million) in guaranteed money, according to reports.

This deal surpasses the $231 million (£179 million) in guaranteed money previously held by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, marking the largest guarantee ever given to an NFL player.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes signed a 10-year contract worth $450 million (£349 million) in 2020, which remains the largest overall contract in NFL history.

Allen’s new contract comes after a standout 2024 season in which he led the Bills to the AFC Championship game, where they were defeated by the Chiefs. Over the course of the season, Allen accumulated 41 touchdowns—28 passing, 12 rushing, and one receiving—and helped the Bills score 30 or more points in 12 games, tied for the second-most in NFL history.

At 28 years old, Allen’s new deal will pay him an average of $55 million (£42 million) per season. Only Dak Prescott, with an average of $60 million (£47 million) per season, has a higher average salary.
