GHS Announces Reassignment of 15 Health Directors Nationwide

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced the reassignment of several health directors across the country.

In a statement released on March 5, 2025, GHS disclosed that 15 health directors would be impacted by the changes. The Service emphasized that the adjustments are necessary to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services and to support the achievement of its goals.

These reassignment decisions will take effect on April 14, 2025. The following directors are affected:

  • Dr. Samuel Kwabena Boakye-Boateng, Former Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) for the Upper East Region, now appointed as the Director of the Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division (PPMED) at GHS headquarters.
  • Dr. Kennedy T.C. Brightson, Former Medical Superintendent at Shai-Osudoku Municipal Hospital, now designated as the Acting Director of Family Health at GHS headquarters.
  • Dr. Abdulai Abukari, Former RDHS for the Northern Region, now assigned as the Director of Special Duties at GHS headquarters.
  • Dr. Alberta Adjebeng Biritwum-Nyarko (Mrs.), Former Director of PPMED at GHS headquarters, now appointed as the RDHS for the Central Region.
  • Dr. Marion Okoh-Owusu, Former Director of the Family Health Division (FHD) at GHS headquarters, now reassigned as RDHS for the Bono East Region.
  • Dr. Braimah Baba Abubakari, Former RDHS for the North East Region, now designated as the RDHS for the Upper East Region.
  • Dr. Damien Punguyire, Former RDHS for the Upper West Region, now appointed as the RDHS for the Eastern Region.
  • Dr. Josephat Ana-Imwine Nyuzaghi, Former RDHS for the Savannah Region, now reassigned as the RDHS for the Upper West Region.
  • Dr. Emmanuel Atsu Dodor, Former RDHS for the Ahafo Region, now designated as the RDHS for the Volta Region.
  • Dr. Akosua A. Owusu-Sarpong (Mrs.), Former RDHS for the Greater Accra Region, now appointed as the RDHS for the Ahafo Region.
  • Dr. Chrysantus Kubio, Former RDHS for the Volta Region, now reassigned as the RDHS for the Bono East Region.
  • Dr. Paulina Clara Appiah, Former RDHS for the Bono East Region, now appointed as the RDHS for the Western North Region.
  • Dr. Godfred Kwabena Sarpong, Former RDHS for the Western North Region, now designated as the RDHS for the Northern Region.
  • Dr. John Ekow Otoo, Former Medical Director at the Upper West Regional Hospital, now appointed as the RDHS for the North East Region.
  • Dr. Robert Amesiya, Former RDHS for the Savannah Region, now assigned as the Acting Regional Director for the Greater Accra Region.

These changes aim to strengthen the health service structure and contribute to better healthcare delivery across the country.
