Ghana’s senior women’s national team is set to embark on a training tour to Senegal next month as part of their preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Black Queens will spend nine days in Senegal, continuing their preparations for the postponed 2024 WAFCON.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced the plans for the team on Tuesday, 4th March.
The training tour, which will take place during the FIFA window in April, includes two international friendly matches against Senegal’s Teranga Lionesses in Dakar.
Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren’s team will face the Teranga Lionesses twice, with the matches scheduled just days apart.
This follows their recent trip to Morocco, where they played the Atlas Lionesses in Björkegren’s first match as head coach.
These activities are all part of the team’s build-up for the continental competition in Morocco, scheduled for July 5-26, 2025.
Björkegren plans to use this tour to evaluate and broaden his player pool ahead of WAFCON.
