A 29-year-old woman and her daughter, believed to be over two years old, have been found dead under mysterious circumstances in Akrokere, located in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region.
The woman’s body was discovered about 20 meters away from that of her daughter, with both bodies showing multiple signs of assault, suggesting foul play. The deceased have been covered and transported to the Obuasi Dwaden OD Mortuary for further examination.
Community members, speaking to Adom News, reported that the bodies were discovered near a stream. Observations at the scene suggest that the woman may have struggled with her attackers before being overpowered. This has left the residents shaken and fearful.
The Assembly Member for the Akrokere Fie Electoral Area, Kyereme Andy Mensah, expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic incident. “I received a call from some community members, and upon confirming the situation with my unit committee members, we immediately reported the case to the police for further investigations,” he said.
Mensah also mentioned that he and his committee members would inform the traditional leaders of the community to ensure further actions are taken in response to the crime.
The police have since launched an investigation into the deaths, and the circumstances surrounding the case remain unclear.
