Man Killed in Dispute-Related Shooting in Northern Region

A 26-year-old man, Yakubu Mohammed Habib, has lost his life in a shooting incident in Fou, Sagnarigu Municipality, following a dispute between his brother and a neighbor.
The incident occurred between February 25 and 26, 2025, in the Northern Regional town. According to community members, the dispute began when Baba Habib and his friends assaulted Yakubu’s brother, Mustapha Muktadel, on February 25 at around 9:00 p.m.
Later that night, Baba Habib allegedly called Yakubu’s brother, asking to meet him, but he declined. However, at around 12:30 a.m. on February 26, Baba Habib returned with a group of about 20 people, leading to a confrontation.
During the altercation, an unidentified individual reportedly retrieved a pump-action gun from a Mitsubishi Pajero and fired shots, hitting Yakubu Mohammed Habib. Eyewitnesses said the victim was rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) but succumbed to his injuries at around 4:30 a.m.
Police have arrested two suspects, Baba Habib and Alhassan Fuseini, and have launched an investigation into the incident. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the TTH Morgue pending autopsy.
