A group of suspected robbers has invaded the Sokoban Krofrom Palace in the Ashanti Region, making away with the traditional ‘black stool’ and other valuable items.

According to members of the Adumasa family, a group of heavily built men stormed the palace while the newly installed chief and other family members were at the Manhyia Palace to swear the oath of allegiance. By the time they returned, the palace had been raided, and the sacred ‘black stool’ was missing.

The ‘black stool’ holds immense significance in Akan culture, serving as a revered symbol of authority, leadership, power, and spirituality. It is considered a sacred object that embodies the history, traditions, and values of a royal lineage.

“We were here when six macho men surrounded the palace with machetes and guns, vandalized the metal gate, and bolted with the black stool and other items,” some family members recounted.

Expressing their distress to Adom News, they revealed that all the doors within the palace had been forcibly broken.

“Our old men who tried to confront them were beaten mercilessly, and we, the women, were in mourning as they took away our valuables,” one family member lamented.

Currently, the family members are living in fear and have called on security agencies to intervene swiftly.

The police have since visited the palace and launched an investigation into the incident.
