A fatal accident involving a Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) armoured vehicle has claimed the life of one soldier and left six others critically injured. The incident occurred at Saka, a community near Zebilla in the Upper East Region.

The armoured vehicle, which was traveling from Bawku to Bolgatanga, reportedly lost control after one of its rear tires detached, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and crash. Eyewitnesses to the tragedy stated that the vehicle was moving at high speed just before the accident took place.

The injured soldiers were immediately rushed to the Zebilla District Hospital for urgent medical care. Personnel from the Zebilla Police Command arrived at the scene to manage the situation and assist in evacuating the victims.

This tragic incident has raised further concerns among local residents, who have long been worried about the frequent speeding of military vehicles in the area. The issue has contributed to multiple accidents and casualties over the past few months.

This incident is not the first of its kind. On October 16, 2024, a military vehicle traveling from Bawku to Bolgatanga crashed at Bazua, resulting in the death of one soldier. A similar accident occurred on January 9, 2025, in Zebilla, involving an armoured vehicle that also resulted in fatalities. Furthermore, on February 11, 2025, a crash at Bazua claimed the lives of two motor riders.

In light of these repeated incidents, residents are calling for stricter enforcement of speed limits and enhanced safety measures to prevent further tragedies on the roads.
