  • Repair done on President Mahama's directive
  • Oxygen supply restored to hospital and ambulance service

The Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has confirmed that the oxygen plant at the 37 Military Hospital has been successfully repaired, following an urgent intervention.

Dr. Boamah revealed that the repair was prompted after his visit to the hospital, where he was informed of the plant’s critical condition. He noted that the situation had posed a significant threat to the hospital’s ability to produce and supply oxygen to key areas such as surgical theatres, intensive care units, and wards. Without immediate action, the oxygen supply could have been severely impacted.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Dr. Boamah reassured the public that the issue had been resolved under the direct instructions of President John Dramani Mahama.

“President John Dramani Mahama is serious about his commitment to reset Ghana, and human security will remain essential to the operations of his National Security outfit,” Dr. Boamah said, emphasizing the government’s ongoing focus on improving human security.

He also highlighted the hospital’s broader role, noting, “The 37 Military Hospital also supplies oxygen to the National Ambulance Service.”

“I’m excited to announce that, on the president’s instructions, the Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the National Security Coordinator, has resolved the issue,” he added.

Dr. Boamah explained that new equipment had been purchased and installed to ensure continuous oxygen production and supply, not only for the 37 Military Hospital but also for the National Ambulance Service.

Commending the swift action taken by the government, he stated that the intervention had successfully averted what could have been a major crisis. He further reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing national challenges, saying, “Thanks to our proactiveness, there will be no bad news. We’re committed to solving problems, including fixing the mismanaged economy.”
