Renowned veteran actor Mawuli Semevo has passed away after suffering critical injuries in a fire that broke out in his home. The actor, who was 63 years old, was asleep when the fire started, trapping him in flames.
Mr. Semevo passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra, where he had been receiving treatment for his injuries.
On February 8, 2025, Beyond Burns International, a non-profit organization, revealed that the actor had sustained severe burns covering 44% of his body, along with serious respiratory injuries that made it difficult for him to breathe. The burns, which affected his head to his legs, caused him to lose all his hair.
Despite the support of some colleagues who rallied for his recovery, Mr. Semevo tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Mr. Semevo was widely celebrated for his remarkable contributions to both stage and film productions. His acclaimed roles include performances in Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines, the YOLO TV series, and The Good Old Days: The Love of AA.
