Gov’t Approves 10% Salary Increase for Public Sector Workers

The government has approved a 10% salary increase for public sector workers after successful negotiations between Labour Union representatives and President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment Dr. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo were also present during the meeting where the agreement was reached.

The newly approved salary adjustment will take effect on March 1, 2025. In accordance with this decision, all establishments, institutions, and organizations with minimum wages below the new rate have been instructed to make the necessary adjustments to meet the new standards.

This adjustment follows a 23% salary increment in 2024, which had been introduced to ease the impact of rising living costs.

The latest increase is expected to provide relief for thousands of public sector employees across the country.
