The Ghana Premier League (GPL) is scheduled to resume on March 1, 2025, according to a report by Happy FM.

The league had been suspended following the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan Francis Frimpong, widely known as Nana Pooley. Pooley was fatally stabbed at Nana Kronmansah Park during a Matchday 19 clash between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko in Nsoatre.

In response to the incident, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) postponed the Matchday 20 fixtures and engaged in discussions with club executives to enhance safety protocols at league venues.

As a result of these talks, the GFA has introduced stricter safety and matchday protocols that all clubs must adhere to. Teams failing to comply with the new guidelines will face fines and potential home bans.

While the FA Cup Round of 16 fixtures are set to continue this weekend, Happy FM reports that the second half of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League will resume on March 1.

In the meantime, Asante Kotoko, who returned to training on Wednesday, has declared that they will not participate in any official competition until justice is served for Pooley’s death.

The suspect involved in the incident, identified as Brimah, is still at large.
