Two Dead, Over 500 Displaced in Bunkprugu/Nakpanduri Clashes Over Rival Chiefs

- 2 killed, 500 displaced in Bunkprugu/Nakpanduri communal clashes
- 150 homes, 5,000 sacks of food destroyed in 3-day violence
- Victims appeal to government for aid and intervention
Communal clashes in the Bunkprugu/Nakpanduri district of the North East Region have left a trail of devastation, claiming two lives and displacing over 500 individuals.
The violence erupted last week in Ngagma-Gbregu, sparked by a dispute over the installation of rival chiefs by the Chief of Binde. The clashes, which lasted for three days, resulted in widespread destruction. More than 150 homes were set on fire, and over 5,000 sacks of food stocks were destroyed, leaving the affected communities in dire need of assistance.
The violence has caused immense hardship for the victims, especially women and children, who have been left without adequate food supplies for several days. In response to the crisis, the displaced victims have appealed to the government for help, particularly in providing food aid.
During a visit to the area, Member of Parliament for the district, Abednago Bandim, heard firsthand accounts of the suffering from the displaced individuals, who urgently called for government intervention to alleviate their plight.
