- Sankore chiefs appeal for road rehabilitation
- Roads pose health risks and accident threats
- Minister assures of asphalting soon
The chiefs of Sankore in the Ahafo Region have raised concerns over the poor condition of their roads, calling for urgent action to address the situation. The chiefs have appealed to the Ahafo Regional Minister, Charity Gardiner, to push for immediate improvements to the roads.
During a courtesy call by Madam Gardiner and her team, the Krontihene of Sankore, Nana Okofo Tabiri Gyansa, expressed his frustrations on behalf of the chiefs. He highlighted the significant challenges caused by the excessive dust and potholes along the road, which pose serious health risks and increase the likelihood of accidents for both commuters and residents.
“We are pleading with you to put pressure on the President to bring the contractor back to the site to complete the project,” Nana Gyansa appealed. “The road is in such a deplorable state that it is affecting the lives of the people here.”
In response, Ahafo Regional Minister Charity Gardiner assured the chiefs that the matter had been raised with the President. She revealed that, alongside the Asunafo South Member of Parliament and Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, she had already discussed the road issue with the President.
“I can assure you that the Sankore road will be asphalted soon,” she promised the chiefs. “We are working on it, and there is a plan to fix the road in the near future.”
